Below is from Cody's mother:
My son Cody Christopher Loftus age 28, from Louisville, KY was murdered in Detroit, Michigan on 12/9/21. Leaving behind a beautiful 3-year-old son (Harrison) who he lived his entire life for. He recently began his own business of purchasing vehicles, boats, trailers, ATV’s etc... so that he could spend as much time with his “little man” - as he called Harrison, as possible. When he was in Detroit for work my husband and I received a phone call from a Detective out of Detroit informing us that Cody was car jacked, robbed and shot in the back. We were advised that he was in critical condition and that we needed to get to Detroit as soon as possible. We arrived at Sanai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Mi. at 5:45 PM and were met by detectives and the hospital pastor and led into the family consultation room. My heart sank. We were told that when he got to the ER he was barely conscious, his legs were paralyzed and due to enormous amount of blood loss he barely had a blood pressure. “We did all we could do; we are very sorry” are the words that will forever haunt me. He touched so many people in life and now in death. He lived simply yet worked endlessly. He was a mentor, a friend, a son, a brother and most importantly the Daddy to his little man, Harrison. Cody was not only robbed of his vehicle, his money, wallet and his phones…He was robbed of being with Harrison on Christmas this year and a Lifetime of memories that would have been made. His friends and family will never see that beautiful big smile, his beautiful blue eyes or hear his contagious laugh again. This fundraiser will help with funeral expenses, expenses to have Cody brought back home to Louisville from Detroit, a headstone and to set up a small account for Harrison since Cody had not yet set up a life insurance account. Thank you and God Bless.
